Examples of this period's outer garments include: a full length 1800-1810 unlined slim silk twill coat with a flat fold over closure and early full headed sleeves set very high at the back; a Longfellow family spencer or short jacket; a mid-calf length brownish green wadded cloak, pink silk lined with pink silk frills trimming the hood; and a slim full length beautifully quilted grayish figured silk coat with a wide detachable quilted collar.
